Montrose Man Charged With Rape In Putnam County

The victim was below the age of consent, police said.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A 28-year-old Montrose resident who had sexual relations with a 15-year-old Putnam County girl faces rape charges, Sheriff Kevin J. McConville announced.

Police began investigating allegations the suspect had engaged in sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl in Putnam County. Due to her age, the victim could not consent, police said.

After investigation and with the assistance of the Putnam County Child Advocacy Center and the District Attorney's Office, investigators from the Sheriff's Office arrested Adrian Chomiw Aug. 24.

He was charged with three counts of third-degree rape, a felony, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Chomiw was arraigned in Putnam Valley Town Court before the Honorable Judge Nachamie and was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
