Local car dealerships were busy with end-of-the month business Thursday, but associates at three of them spoke to Southeast-Brewster Patch about the most popular cars for 2013.

- Starting price: About $18K and change
- Why customers like it: Fuel economy, and because it's a commuter-type car. Good starter for a youngster heading to college.
Kevin Panepinto, senior sales consultant at Brewster Ford (1024 Route 22 in Southeast, 845-279-2992):
- Most popular vehicle: 2013 Ford Escape
- Starting price: About $27,000
- Why customers like it: Inexpensive four-wheel drive and good gas mileage (about 30 miles per gallon).
