Probation Check Leads to Hallucinogenic Mushroom Discovery
Officials say the defendant, a Southeast resident, is also facing a child endangerment charge.

A 56-year-old Southeast man is facing misdemeanor and felony charges after officials found him to be in possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms, police say.
Troopers from the Southeast barracks arrested Richard T. Genovese at his Seven Oaks Lane home at about 3 p.m. Wednesday. They were there assisting his probation officer.
A teenage family member was present at the time of the discovery. Police charged Genovese with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

The defendant was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $1,500 cash bail, pending a future appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
Details on Genovese's probation status were unavailable.
