Putnam Libraries Offer More Fun October Events

From monster bashes to masterful horror films, there's lots to do in the next weeks.

There’s a lot going on in Putnam libraries during the next two weeks and much of it is festive fun that celebrates Halloween. Here’s a sampling of the spooky events planned in the county.

Spooky Animals: Reed Memorial Library offers an event for the whole family on October 29. Animal Assembly will present Spooky Animals at 10:30 a.m., followed by snacks and crafts. The library is located at1733 Route 6, Carmel. 845-225-2439

Storytelling Extravaganza: Storyteller Jonathan Kruk presents a Halloween Extravaganza at the Kent Library on Oct. 29. The event begins at 11 a.m. The library is located at 17 Sybils Crossing in Carmel. 845 225-8585

Spooktacular Teen Night: Mahopac Library will present a Spooktacular Teen Night at 6 p.m. on Oct. 28. The library is located at 668 Route 6 in Mahopac. 845 628-0672.

Day of the Dead: The Brewster Library will host a Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 29. The Mexican holiday akin to All Saints Day is usually observed on the first day of November. The library is located at 79 Main Street, Brewster. 845 279-6421.

Monster Bash: The Patterson Library hosts a Monster Bash Halloween Party at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. The party is for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Come in costume, Enjoy creepy snacks, prizes for disguises, crafts and spine-tingling games. The library is located at 1167 Route 311, Patterson. 845 878-6121.

Masterful Horror Film: Putnam Valley Free Library will present the horror classic, “The Wolf,” the latest in its Masters of Horror film series. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21. The library is located at 30 Oscawana Lake Road in Putnam Valley. 845 528-3242

The Haunted Library: The Julia Butterfield Memorial Library presents an After Hours at the Haunted Library program on Oct. 28 for sixth through eighth graders. The program begins at 5p.m. The library is located at 10 Morris Avenue in Cold Spring. 845 265-3040.

Pumpkin Glow: The Alice Curtis Desmond and Hamilton Fish Library will have its Friends of the Library Annual Pumpkin Glow from 6 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 30. Bring your own jack o’ lantern to light up the lawn. Stacy Labriola will sing spooky songs. Cider and donuts will be served. The library is located at 472 NY-403 in Garrison. 845 424-3020.
