CARMEL, NY — Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said that a New Jersey man was arrested for a strange incident at the Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.

On October 25, hospital security told investigators that they were alerted to a suspicious man who had entered the hospital by following an employee through a card access door. He was then seen on surveillance video walking throughout the building without a legitimate purpose, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators were able to identify the vehicle that the man used that day, and over the next several months, were able to identify a suspect.
