Wintry Mix Predicted for Tuesday Commute

A mix of snow, sleet and rain is forecast for Northern Westchester.

Wintry weather is on the way in Putnam and Northern Westchester, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Forecasters predict a 90 percent chance of snow, freezing rain and sleet, likely starting around 1 a.m. Though the weather could make for a messy morning commute, there should be little accumulation of snow and ice and conditions will improve by the evening ride home.

Temperatures will hover in the high 20s tonight but warm up to 44 Tuesday. There's a chance of showers Tuesday night, clearing by Wednesday when we should see the sun and temperatures in the high 30s.

The NWS issues a winter weather advisory when conditions may cause travel difficulties. The bureau encourages caution while driving or walking on untreated roadways.
