10 New Fiction Arrivals at the Library

Some of the latest books to hit the shelves at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

There may be waiting lists for 50 Shades of Grey at libraries across Long Island, but while you're waiting for a copy, here are some other fiction titles to check out at .

  • The Stolen Chalice by Kitty Pilgrim. New York City elites gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a celebration, unaware that terrorists are planning to attack.
  • After Life by Rhian Ellis. A coming-of-age story and thriller for women, set in Train Line, New York, a town full of psychic mediums and spiritualists.
  • Channel Zero by Brian Wood, illustrated by Becky Cloonan. A graphic novel that deals with "themes of freedom of expression, hacking, cutting-edge media manipulation, and police surveillance," according to amazon.com.
  • The Island House by Posie Graeme-Evans. Hailed by reviewers as "first-rate commercial fiction," Graeme-Evans pens a novel about a young archaeologist who continues her father's work and finds ancient secrets, Viking treasure, and a tragic romance.
  • The Kings of Cool by Don Winslow. A prequel to Savages, which has been made into a movie set to be released in the fall, about two men who risk everything to save the woman they both love. 
  • A Fatal Debt by John Gapper. Acclaimed Financial Times columnist Gapper has written "a gripping tale of lethal intrigue set in the high-stakes Wall Street world," according to reviews.
  • Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai. Hailed as "thought-provoking" and "important" by reviewers, Desai's debut work of fiction is a mystery about a young girl in India found nearly beaten to death – who is charged with the murders of 13 people.
  • The City Beneath the Snow: Stories by Marjorie Kowalski Cole. A collection of beautiful stories that paint "a portrait of contemporary Alaskans, their interactions, and their foibles," according to Amazon.com.
  • The Demands by Mark Billingham. Acclaimed as "a tightly plotted and suspenseful thriller" by reviewers, The Demands is the latest in Billingham's Tom Thorne series.
  • The Red Book by Deborah Kopaken Kogan. Four Harvard friends reunite 20 years later for a "relationship-changing, score-settling, unforgettable weekend," according to Amazon.com.
