Museum Guide: Local Summer Exhibits to Check Out
A look at what you'll find on display at local organizations.

Three Village and the surrounding communities offers a variety of exhibits to see, from the educational to the aesthetic. Here's a rundown of what you can see now and in the immediate future.
- "Long Island, America's 1950s Frontier" – July 20 through Dec. 31. Featuring artifacts, photos, and video histories documenting Long Island as its status in the 1950s as the frontier of population growth in America.
- "Facing the Issues: William Sidney Mount and Current Events" – through Aug. 19. The paintings of W.S. Mount, who lived from 1807 to 1868, reflect the social, economic, and cultural changes that characterized that era.
- – through Sept. 3. Enjoy antique cars on display along with car shows and other special events
- – open Saturdays & Sundays from noon to 4:30 p.m.

- August – The Three Village Garden Club's display of street gardens.
- September – Jeanne Saluccie of Brookhaven Hamlet will exhibit.
- "Local Color I – Photography" – Aug. 3 through Aug. 24. The first of a two-part series, celebrating photography. In addition to offering viewings and receptions, Gallery North also offers works of art for sale. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- "Local Color II – Painting" – Aug. 31 through Sept. 21. The second in a two-part series, celebrating painting.

- Outdoor Sculpture Garden – July 30 through Aug. 30. Born and raised on Long Island, exhibitor Steve Zaluski is a sculptor who uses metals as his media.
- "Four Views – Landscape" – Aug. 12 through Sept. 24. Four artists transport the viewer to the lands, skies and seas in their paintings, a variety of approaches to landscapes.
- Many standing children's exhibits, including "Explore the Shore," "Captain of Your Ship," "Reading Raft," and "Signal Center," will be on display through September. Open weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
