Seawolves Pitcher Pleads Guilty to DWI Charge

G.C. Yerry, a pitcher for Stony Brook University, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in relation to an incident that happened in November of 2011.

A Stony Brook University baseball player has pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated DWI related to an incident that took place in November of 2011.

G.C. Yerry, a left-handed pitcher for the Seawolves, was arrested Nov. 6 at 1:55 a.m. at the intersection of Route 347 and Arrowhead Lane and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, and failure to stay in a single lane of travel. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to three years' probation and a six-month license revocation as well as several hundred dollars in fines for the aggravated DWI charge. The other charges were dismissed.

Yerry, who was 20 years old at the time of his arrest, may also be required to use an ignition interlock device for a year.

A Stony Brook athletics spokesman confirmed that Yerry is a player on the baseball team but could not comment further.

In 2011, Yerry made 11 appearances as a relief pitcher for the Seawolves, according to his player biography. In 2012, he pitched a scoreless inning at Fordham, shut out Iona in three innings, allowed just one run in four innings against Rhode Island, and earned a save with two shutout innings at Fairfield.
