Seaford School Board Approves Interim Business Chief

The Seaford Board of Education has tapped a veteran school administrator as an interm business chief to replace Ken Aldrich following his retirement. 

Alan Phillips was unanimously approved by the Seaford school board at its meeting Thursday night as the district's interim assistant superintendent for business. Aldrich retired as Seaford business chief this fall after a lengthy administrative career. The school board is now searching for a permanent business chief. 

Phillips has 45 years of experience in education including having worked as a business administrator in the Lawrence, Plainview, East Rockaway and Bethpage school districts before retiring nine years ago and since then has taken on several successful interim assignments. Among Phillips' accomplishments, he was assigned to the Roslyn School District to restore confidence and transparency after the district’s highly publicized 2005 scandal revealing the mishandling of more than $11 million by district employees. Phillips has also filled interim positions as Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Personnel.

Phillips is an adjunct associate professor at the C. W. Post Campus of Long Island University and an assistant professor at Stony Brook University. Before becoming an administrator he taught earth science and computer science to middle school students.
