Gary Kerr, managing director at Greystar, said he was excited to break ground on the project, which reflects the confidence of the company in the growth potential of Downtown White Plains.

“With its central location between New York City and Southern Connecticut, rail connectivity and improved 24/7 urban lifestyle environment within suburban Westchester County, this area is ideal for those seeking a dynamic live/work/play setting," he said. "We look forward to complementing that with a top-of-market, highly amenitized residential offering and supportive retail space that will serve the community at large.”

Kerr also stressed the collaborative relationship with the city of White Plains, Westchester County and the many agencies and individuals who are helping to make the project a reality.

Roach said the groundbreaking was an important milestone for the city as it unlocks the intrinsic value of this site and continues on its path to creating a vibrant transit-oriented downtown.

“25 North Lex represents our ability to attract significant private investment from a major global entity like Greystar to White Plains," he said.

Handel Architects LLP designed two intersecting towers of 16 and 25 stories that will rise from a four-story podium concealing a large, covered parking structure.

There will be expansive studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes featuring open floorplans with high ceilings, lavish baths, large bedrooms, spacious kitchens with top-of-the line appliances and ample storage.

Nearly 60,000 square feet of amenities at 25 North Lex will include a welcoming lobby, state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga/class studio, study rooms, children’s room, private dining and meeting rooms, sports/media lounge, pet spa, golf simulator and a spectacular 17th floor Sky Lounge.

Outdoor recreational space will feature a fifth-floor roof deck with a zero-edge pool and sun deck, grilling stations, gazebos, fire pits, lawn area and community gardens. The 17th-floor landscaped rooftop off the Sky Lounge will offer additional grilling stations, lounge areas and fire pits. The pet-friendly building will also have a state-of-the-art dog run.
