A Look Back: Irene One Year Later
One year ago today, Irene passed through White Plains, leaving behind floods and power outages.
Soggy basements, flooded roads and power outages greeted many White Plains residents as they awoke one year ago today.
Tropical Storm Irene passed through the region in the early morning hours of Aug. 28. The much anticipated storm left its mark, but wasn't as bad as some expected. Still, the storm and left some for up to four days.
In total more than 2,000 White Plains and the storm forced the of hundreds of bars, theaters and restaurants over the weekend.

By the time Irene cleared the area, several homes needed to be evacuated and half a dozen City streets were closed temporarily.
