Ever wonder what goes behind some of the decisions made by police officers in White Plains?
Then this summer’s Public Citizen’s Academy is the place start. The White Plains Department of Public Safety is running the academy from June 11 to Aug. 6 for people in the city 18 and older in the business and private communities who want to learn more about the department.
The program, which is taught by experienced police officers and firefighters, includes hands-on, interactive activities and ride-alongs. Classes will take place Tuesdays from 7 p.m. 9 p.m. and cover topics such as the vehicle and traffic and procedure laws, the fire department and the various divisions of the police department.
Interested students are encouraged to email Police Lt. Kevin Christopher at kchristopher@whiteplainsny.gov for further information. The application, which is available in the PDF attached to this story, can be sent to Lt. Kevin Christopher, White Plains Police Department, 77 South Lexington Ave., White Plains, New York, 10601.
