Council Issues Bonds for Lexington-Grove Garage

“This is the plan’s second segment of a four part approach to rehabilitation the Lexington-Grove Garage, which is over 30-years-old,” said Roach, at the meeting
Roach said previous stages—which the council bonded $1.9 million for in January—included work to the garage’s sprinkler system, and that the work covered under the $505,000 would include structural upgrades.

City Dams to be Rehabbed
The council approved $404,000 in bonds for the first stage of Phase II in the rehabilitation of the City’s two dams. The upgrades will bring the City into compliance with recent federal and state requirements that allow the dams to cope with a 500-year storm.
“I think it’s not only the right thing to do, but it’s very good for the City to invest in,” said Councilwoman Milagros Lecuona, referring to recent increases in water rates from New York City.
White Plains will be working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on the project.
Council Extends Intermunicipal Pilot Program with School District
The City and White Plains School District will extend an intermunicipal agreement through June 30, 2012, which allows the school district and City to engage in a pilot program where their vehicles will be maintained and serviced by the White Plains Department of Public Works. Roach said the City and school will continue to search for ways to share services to save money.
