Genevieve Faivre returns to Jazz On Main with a special holiday performance. Join her Friday, December 19th for two sets of your favorite holiday songs, jazz and bossa nova standards, and original music. 
Genevieve has established herself as a topline vocalist in NYC. She is a frequent presence at popular NYC venues including Cafe Wha?, The Red Pavilion, and City Winery. The Brooklyn resident was professionally trained in classical voice from a young age, attending prestigious programs in New York City at Manhattan School of Music, NYU Steinhardt and the New York City Opera. She pursued a vocal performance degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia and is a graduate of Brewster High School. 
In addition to performing, Genevieve is frequently recruited as a studio vocalist and writer for feature film soundtracks, original compositions and voice-overs, including work for AMC Theaters and Coca-Cola.

Performed by Ballet des Amériques professionals with local young dancers, it’s a festive must-see!
ABOUT CAROLE ALEXIS | CHOREOGRAPHER Carole Alexis is a choreographer, producer, dance educator and the founding director (2011) of the Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre/Ballet des Amériques, who has won numerous awards: in 2021, Carole Alexis was named Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettresby the French Ministry of Culture; in 2023, she was honored with the Artist Award by ArtsWestchester. A student of Maurice Béjart, Alexis’ choreographic work is rooted in classical ballet training and tradition while drawing upon influences as disparate as children’s games, island rituals, natural phenomena, and modern urban life. Alexis proclaims, “My interest in creating Nutcracker Dream is to bring families and friends together around the essence of what the story represents – namely, the beautiful balance between Marie’s childhood playfulness and her coming of age in the midst of her own circle of family and friends.”

The Bruce invites you to take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle. Come and relax in a serene setting and learn how to create a unique Freeform crochet wall hanging. This workshop, inspired by Ursula Van Rydingsvard’s works on paper displayed in the new exhibition States of Becoming, will guide participants through an open-ended creative crochet experience. Freeform crochet does not follow a pattern or rules and instead invites the maker to create an artistic and improvisational piece. Participants will leave with a beautiful crochet wall hanging that they can give as a gift or proudly display in their home. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own hooks and yarn. This class is best for advanced beginners who know the crochet basics (chain, single, double and treble crochet).
Fee: $16-member, $20 non-member
