Community Housing Innovations CEO to Participate in Housing Summit

WHITE PLAINS, NY - (May 2025) – Ron Abad, CEO of Community Housing Innovations, will join top leaders from across the state to discuss trends in affordable housing.

Experts from government, housing agencies, and the private sector will discuss the evolving landscape of affordable housing on May 8 as part of a housing summit Shaping the Future of Housing in New York sponsored by City & State.

“Affordable housing is one of the most pressing needs, not only in New York, but across our nation,’’ said Abad, who has nearly 30 years’ experience in the nonprofit and government housing sectors. “I am looking forward to a frank discussion with some of the top leaders in this space as we explore innovative approaches to addressing the housing crisis.’’

The day will begin with a keynote address by RuthAnne Visnauskas, Commissioner and CEO of New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and continue with panel discussions throughout the day.

Abad will participate on the day’s first panel at 10:30 am, Affordable Housing Trends at the State Level, joining Madeline Fletcher, Vice President, Small & Mid-Size Development NYS Homes & Community Renewal: Denise Miranda, Acting Commissioner, NYS Division of Human Rights; Jeffrey Ginsburg, President & CEO, Volunteers of America - Greater New York; and Joel Kolkmann; Senior Vice President, Real Estate Development and Planning; Empire State Development. They will discuss innovative approaches to addressing the housing crisis, such as new zoning reforms, affordable housing financing models, and community-driven projects.

The housing summit will be held from 9 a.m. – 3:30 pm at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, New York, NY. The event features panel discussions, workshops, and presentations on topics such as sustainable development, financing strategies, zoning laws, and community-driven initiatives.
