The White Plains Common Council has a full agenda for its December meeting to be held Monday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at .

The council will vote on whether or not to adopt the French-American School of New York’s (FASNY) scoping document for its draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) required for its application for a special permit to develop a day care center and nursery school through high school campus at the former . Click for details on the project.

FASNY’s application to build a school campus at the former Ridgway Country Club requires them to conduct studies that assess the impact of their project. The scoping document determines what will be addressed in the studies.

Some residents who are —and say it would overwhelm the neighborhood with traffic and negatively impact the environmental sensitivity of the site—have expressed concerns that the scoping document isn’t complete and, that their comments were left out.

“Lately it seems that input from the citizens who are supposed to be represented is not taken seriously or entirely overlooked,” said Frances Jones, co-president of the White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations and Concerned Citizens for Open Space member, in a letter to Councilwoman Milagros Lecouna and Councilman-elect Dennis Krolian, that was sent to the entire council and dated Nov. 23.

“If our ideas are not really wanted, or are intended to be cut, then please do not put us through the sham of asking us to participate. A lot of time and energy was spent not only by me, but by others who took the time to study the situation and submit comments for the FASNY scoping.”
