DMV Relocates White Plains Office Temporarily

The former White Plains DMV office in the White Plains Mall has permanently closed.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — The state Department of Motor Vehicles has closed its office in the White Plains Mall, but there will be a temporary location until the new permanent office opens in early fall.

DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder said in a news release that the White Plains Mall office was shuttered March 31. Effective April 4, a short-term temporary office opened in Tarrytown and is scheduled to be open for 60 days.

The temporary White Plains district office is at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center, 445 South Broadway in Tarrytown. It is open by reservation only from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The new White Plains office will be in The Source at 1 Maple Ave. in White Plains. That building, which is across from The Westchester, is where the Cheesecake Factory, Whole Foods and Dick's Sporting Goods are located.

Schroeder said the DMV is very excited to find a new home in White Plains.

"Our new office will be located just a few short miles from our former home in the White Plains Mall," he said, "and it will allow us to offer our customers the best possible experience."

Customers are encouraged to visit the DMV's website to complete transactions online or to schedule a reservation at a nearby location.

Other DMV office locations in Westchester County include Peekskill and Yonkers. There are locations for AAA members in Yorktown and Yonkers.
