Drunk Man Stands in Center of Street, Snarls Traffic, Gets Arrested: Police

City resident faces a misdemeanor and violation charges.

An intoxicated White Plains man snarled traffic early Sunday morning at 3:41 a.m. by standing in the center of a busy intersection and refusing to move for motorists, cops said.

The 33-year-old Overlook Road resident had his jacket pulled over his head and his feet planted in the center of the Quarropas Street-Mamaroneck Avenue intersection, cops said, even as cars approached him and honked.

When police tried to arrest the man he latched on to a light pole, and later laid prone on the pavement with his arms tucked beneath his body, cops said.
