Get Your Giants Gear in White Plains While It Lasts

Are you suiting up in "G-Men" gear to get ready for the Super Bowl? If so, where in White Plains did you buy your New York Giants apparel?

New York Giants merchandise is flying off the shelves in the White Plains since the football team made its way into the 2012 Super Bowl after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football Conference title game Sunday.

in White Plains opened its doors right after the game from 11 p.m. to 12 p.m., and was open at 6 a.m. on Monday to accommodate its local football fans.

“They want to make sure they get their hands on something,” said Mike Teller, a sales associate for The Sports Authority. “Pretty much for the next two weeks everyone is going to want to wear something. We’re selling out, then people are going to have to travel all over Westchester just to pick something up. You got to wear you licensed apparel—it’s good for the City and it’s good for business.”

Teller says the store was flooded with shoppers Monday who wanted to snatch up conference championship hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts—the hats were sold out by 11 a.m.

“Our sales have been pretty good for the day,” said Teller.

The Sports Authority will keep stocking its shelves while supplies last, and has everything a Giants fan could want—even a Giants garbage can.

in White Plains also saw their sales swell after the big game, which leaves the New York Giants to face-off against The New England Patriots on Feb. 5

“There’s been a nice flow [of customers],” said Jeanne Lowden, who works at Dick’s Sporting Goods. “The Giants are a New York team, and that’s a very popular team.”

Even on Westchester Avenue is cheering on the “G-Men,” and is selling Giants t-shirts between $15 and $25.

“People have something to be excited about over the next two weeks,” said Teller. “It’s good for the stores, because when people come here they buy other stuff too. It’s good for the restaurants and bars—it’s good for the city.”
