Homeless Man Arrested for Alleged Trespassing, Pot Possession

Local man refused to leave parking garage, police said.

A homeless man who refused to leave his sleeping alcove in a parking garage was arrested and also found to be holding pot, police said.

Cops responded to reports of a homeless man sleeping in the ninth-floor parking garage stairway at 275 Main Street Wednesday of last week.

According to reports, police met with an employee from nearby Ivy Realty, who said the 44-year-old homeless man had been using he property as "a steady place to sleep," and that it had become "a serious problem."

Police arrested the homeless man, and, after a search at headquarters, found he had a marijuana joint, cops said.

The man was charged with trespassing and unlawful possession of marijuana, both violations.
