Housing Action Council and Pace Land Use Law Center Join Forces
New Partnership will provide expanded services in the Hudson Valley

White Plains NY – December 8, 2022 - Two powerhouse organizations in the region’s housing and land use arena are coming together in a new alliance that will extend their influence in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
The Housing Action Council and Pace Land Use Law Center will join forces blending the expertise of both organizations and expanding their role and reach in the region. The announcement of the new association was made at the 21st Annual Alfred DelBello Land Use and Sustainable Development Conference.
An advocate for affordable housing since 1974, the Housing Action Council has been a leader in expanding housing opportunities for low-and-moderate income households throughout Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties and other parts of the Hudson Region.

Its track record includes impressive wins such as facilitating the development of over 4,000 affordable housing units in the lower Hudson Valley, fostering numerous local housing committees and non-profit organizations to support development in their communities and advising municipalities on the adoption of land use policies favorable to the development of affordable housing.
Pace Land Use Law Center, founded in 1993, uses its expertise in land use management to assist local governments with strategies and techniques to foster the development of sustainable communities. Through its programs, centers, conferences and legal education programs, it educates local policy makers and professionals to promote innovative land uses.

“Because of our longstanding and productive relationship, this alliance is a logical outgrowth of our past collaboration with the center and an enhancement of our services,’’ said Rose Noonan, Executive Director of the Housing Action Council. “This marriage will enable the Housing Action Council to expand its services and geographical footprint with the goal of increasing the number of affordable housing units. It will add the skills, staffing and resources of the Land Use Law Center, making it a more formidable force in the affordable housing arena.’’
The staff of the Land Use Law Center will lead the Housing Action Council in outreach to not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, developers/builders, affordable housing committees, and coalitions, providing them with research, technical assistance and access to funding and other resources with the goal of increasing the affordable housing stock .
Pace Land Use Law Center and Housing Action Council will continue to co-sponsor their Land Use Leadership Alliance training on affordable housing and an annual Hudson Valley Housing Summit in the Spring.
