Jenkins said: “As the anniversary of 9/11 brings us together to remember those lost and the many selfless first-responders, we are proud to join Volunteer New York! in presenting this meaningful way to take action in remembrance. In addition to the mobilization of hundreds of volunteers benefiting our local nonprofits, volunteering alongside our neighbors helps us foster unity, empathy and brings our community closer together.”
Registration is now open at volunteernewyork.org/serve for volunteer opportunities that address local needs, from food insecurity to a blood drive with the New York Blood Center. Activities include writing letters to deployed military personnel, packing 50,000 meals, preparing sandwiches with One Sandwich at a Time, and a hands-only CPR workshop with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, among other projects hosted at the Westchester County Center on Thursday, September 11.
Volunteer New York! Executive Director Polly Lagana said: “9/11 Day is a call to action. It’s a day for our community to show up for our neighbors and transform remembrance into impact. Whether we are working together to pack meals or giving time in another way, every act of service helps build a stronger, more connected community. This is how Volunteer New York! and our partners honor the past and shape the future.”
Robison Oil is the lead sponsor of this event, with additional support from Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts and WMCHealth.
Robison Oil President Dan Singer said: “For the 11th year in a row, Robison is proud to support ‘9/11 Serve + Remember’ day of service in honor of those whose lives were changed forever by this tragic event. Amidst the catastrophic loss of life, we witnessed heroism and a unified spirit that strengthened our communities and brought out the best in all of us. Service to community is a value at the core of our business, and we thank Westchester County for allowing us to join with Volunteer New York! in supporting this important remembrance.”
