Man Is Given $1, But Steals $20: White Plains Cops

Police: Valhalla man asks for money in downtown White Plains, and then snatches a $20.

A Westchester man is facing felony charges after cops caught up with his capers in downtown White Plains, police said.

David Dorsey, a 29-year-old from Valhalla, was standing outside Anthony's Deli on Martine Avenue last Saturday evening when he asked a passer-by for money.

The victim forked over a $1, police told Patch, but Dorsey then snatched a $20 out of the victim's other hand and refused to give it back.

The victim followed Dorsey, and when police showed up shortly after the alleged theft, Dorsey surrendered the $20 bill.

Dorsey was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony.
