Former customers of beloved Good Humor Man Joe Villardi, who died on June 12, are calling on Good Humor’s parent company, Unilever, and local officials to memorialize the ice cream man by erecting a monument or naming a local street or park after him.

School Board Leaders Stay the Same, New Member Takes Oath

Unsigned Artists to Shine at “Unfiltered”

will showcase the talent of unsigned artists to benefit the New York Blaze Athletic Club in White Plains. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

School Board Expands Finance/Audit Committee Membership

The White Plains Board of Education is looking for a new member to join the district’s Finance and Audit Committee, boosting citizen participation to three members.

The committee, which formerly had only two citizens participating, also includes three members or ex-officio members of the school board; the superintendent; assistant for business; and the district’s school business administrator/treasurer.

Financial, accounting or auditing experience is necessary for applicants, who will attend monthly meetings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 5 Homeside Ln. Committee members cannot be school district employees; have provided goods or services to the district within the last two years; have a direct interest; or be related to a principal in any company providing goods and services to the district.

Applications for the term—which is from Oct. 1 to June 30, 2013—should be sent to the White Plains School District Clerk, 5 Homeside Ln, White Plains NY 10605 by Sept. 12. The committee will interview candidates.
