1.) ArtsWestchester’s September Events in White Plains

ArtsWestchester announced its line-up of September events at in White Plains, which include a poetry slam, an open mic night, African art, Latin jazz and more. Click on the PDF for the full list of September events.

2.) White Plains Hospital Patients Receive “Techno-Therapy”

Eight iPads were recently donated to chemotherapy and infusion treatment patients at White Plains Hospital's Lowenthal Infusion Therapy Center. The iPads will allow patients to relax with a game or movie, or catch up on local news as a distraction from their therapy treatments. The iPads were donated by local residents Robert and Nancy Stone, in conjunction with Apple. 

3.) Children’s Learning Center at the YWCA

The YWCA has consolidated its childcare, nursery school, breakfast club and Kids’ Connection After School programs under the Children's Learning Center at the YWCA.

The new model seeks to strengthen leadership and management among YWCA’s children and youth programming under the New York State Office for Children and Family Services.

4.) Support for the Chronically Ill

Westchester Jewish Community Services’ (WJCS) Pathway to Care program will hold a support group for seriously chronically ill individuals from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 141 North Central Ave. in Hartsdale on Sept. 19, 26; Oct. 10, 17, 24, 31 and Nov. 14.

A $70 donation for the entire session is suggested. For further information please contact Nicki Weiss at 761-0600, ext. 142 or nweiss@wjcs.com.

5.) Ritz-Carlton Lends a Helping Hand at a Local Shelter

Employees of in White Plains recently served lunch, cooked dinner and hung out with residents at local shelter Volunteers of America in Valhalla, part of Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless. Their service was apart of the Ritz’s Community Footprints program.
