1.) Common Council to Vote on Budget

The White Plains Common Council will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. and will later move into a special meeting to vote on the 2011-12 budget.

2.) Help Tornado Victims

The American Red Cross has opened shelters for the victims of the deadly tornadoes that recently occurred in the Midwest. Please consider making a donation to help with their efforts. Visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. You can also text the word “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

With all the barbecues happening this weekend, the Westchester County Department of Health is offering tips on how to fend off E. coli, salmonella and West Nile Virus. Click for the tips.

4.) Youth Bureau Celebrates Its’ Students

More than 180 city students, in grades six through 12, will be honored for making the honor roll at least once during this school year at the White Plains Youth Bureau’s SOAR Celebration on Thurs. 5.) Fundraiser for Grace Church a Success

About $26,000 was raised to support ’s eight programs—that serve underprivileged men, women and children—at its annual “Oasis of Hope,” fundraiser held at the Ritz-Carlton on May 12.

Those honored at the event include: in White Plains; Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, and in White Plains for their dedication to serving the needy.
