1.) White Plains Democratic Slate

White Plains Democrats have chosen their candidates for Novemeber’s election to fill the four spots up for election on the White Plains Common Council. Council President Benjamin Boykin, Councilwoman Milagros Lecuona and lawyer Dennis Krolian will each run for a four-year term, with Councilman John Martin running to fill a two-year term.  City Democrats also chose County Legislators Bill Ryan and Alfreda Williams as its candidates for two seats on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, which carries a two-year term.

2.) Union Leaders Say Hiring of Mayor’s Aides “Hypocritical”

The Journal News reports that the City’s union leaders are calling the hiring of two positions in the mayor’s office unfair. According to The Journal News, while two aides were cut from the previous mayor’s administration—Mayor Tom Roach has hired a campaign coordinator at $50,000, with no benefits, as a part-time administrative aide. An econmic development coordinator will be hired in June for $82,000 to $111,000. Click here to read the full story in The Journal News.

Archbishop Stepinac High School recently honored Westchester County Deputy Executive Kevin Plunkett (’67) and business leader Kevin Keane (’74) at its Trustees Reception recently held at 42 in White Plains. The event also recognized the school’s athletic director and football coach Mike O’Donnell, as well as public relations firm Thompson & Bender.

Author Elaine Sanchez will offer tips on how caregivers can assist their aging family members withouth them having to sacrifice dignity or independence, as well as how to control their health care, property and finances. The Caregiver Survival Training will take place at the Women’s Club of White Plains, the C.V. Mansion at 305 Ridgeway, on Thurs. June 2 from noon to 2 p.m. Click for more information.
