1.) Farmers’ Market Open for Business

The Downtown Farmers’ Market will be open every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on until Nov. 23 on Court Street between Main Street and Martine Avenue. For more info contact the recreation and parks office at 914.422-1336

2.) Foundation for Public Education in White Plains to Expand

According to The Journal News, the Foundation for Public Education in White Plain is seeking to grow in order to raise  more money for White Plains schools. They are looking to residents and local business to chip in to help a hold fundraiser gala every year or two. Click here to read the full story. 4.) Cover Your Mattress to Reduce the Spread of Bed Bugs

As of May 1, White Plains requires all citizens to fully encase their mattresses or box springs with a sealed plastic bag when discarding their mattresses for curbside collections. Unsealed mattresses will not be collected.

You can purchase a cover for $5 at U-Haul Moving & Storage of White Plains, at 1 Virginia Rd. in White Plains 914.949.2525 or at another home supply store.

5.) WPHS Students Receive Scholarship

Four White Plais High School students received the 2011 Jandon Scholoarship which offers a $10,000 scholarship and laptop to a high achieving students: David Mansor, Jennifer Gonzalez, Sandy Pierre, Idelie Castor
