1.) White Plains Department of Public Safety Online

You can now download police reports, crime statistics and trends, find wanted persons and crime prevention tips all on the White Plains Department of Public Safety’s new website.

The site will also be used to update residents, business owners and visitors about events, road closures and other emergencies. Click here to access the website.

3.) Design to Fight Breast Cancer

White Plains Hospital is asking you to submit your best t-shirt design for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.  The contest runs through Sept. 14, with the winner being announced at the end of September.

The winner will get a $100 Simon Malls gift card, and two pink t-shirts featuring their design on the back. The t-shirts will be sold in the hospital’s gift shot, as well as The Westchester mall on Oct. 14 and 15. Proceeds from t-shirt sales will go toward the hospital’s Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center.

4.) Road Work on Martine 

According to the White Plains Business Improvement District, traffic lanes will be restricted, while street parking will be suspended (signs will be posted) between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the north side of Martine Avenue, while a bus pad is being constructed. The work is expected to last through Monday, Aug. 22.

At 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 and Aug. 23 Martine Avenue will be closed to vehicles between Mamaroneck Avenue and Court Street through the early morning and will be reopened during the day at 8 a.m.

Though traffic can get through, deliveries and parking will be restricted throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bee-Line bus stops will be relocated. Click here for more information.

5.) Construction to Start on Parking Lot at Former Bengal Tiger Restaurant

According to the White Plains Business Improvement District, the City will begin construction of the East Post Road parking lot at the corner of Post Road and Court Street, where a fire destroyed the former Bengal Tiger restaurant and other storefronts. Construction will begin in mid-August through the end of September between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The construction may cause traffic restrictions. Click here for more information.
