1.) Taxes Rate Projections on Target
The finalized tax rates for 2011-12 are $176.11 per $1,000 of assessed value for city taxes, and $548.89 per $1,000 of assessed value for school district taxes. Both figures are exact or extremely close to the tax rates that were projected when the City and school district budgets passed.

2.) Ryan Appointed to National Association of Counties Board of Directors
Westchester Legislator Bill Ryan was named to the National Association of Counties' (NACO) board of directors, as well as to its finance and intergovernmental affairs steering committee. The committee deals with all matters pertaining to the financial resources of counties; fiscal management; federal assistance; municipal borrowing; county revenues; federal budget; federal tax reform; elections and Native American issues, according to a press release.
3.) DPW Over Budget, Parking Department Surplus in 2010-11
The Journal News reports that the White Plains Department of Public Works came in $845,000 over budget in 2010-11 because of New York City raising water costs by about 20 percent. The City was used massive amounts of water to fight last year’s Bengal Tiger fire and during a water main break, according to The Journal News.
While the DPW was in the red—the City’s parking department ended in a $239,000 surplus, thanks to license plate-tracking technology that helps police and parking enforcement officer find stolen cars, illegal plates and people who avoid paying tickets—The Journal News said.
