2.) Expected Congestion on the Bronx River Parkway

Westchester County is advising motorists to use alternate routes between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 25 near Leewood Drive (exit 9) on the Bronx River Parkway. One lane will remain open in both directions, due to guide rail repair work.

The New York City Bar Justice Center is hosting legal clinics for low-income veterans who were disabled as a result of their service. Lawyers will help veterans evaluate and assist with applying for benefits. You must make an appointment by contacting 877-564-3383 or e-mail knystedt@nycbar.org.

The clinics will be held at 42 W 44th St. New York, NY 10036, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, July 25; and on Sept. 27, Oct. 19 and Nov. 15. Click for more information.

4.) CSEA, City Come to a 4-Year Deal

According to The Journal News, the City announced that it has reached a deal on a four-year contract with the Civil Service Employees Association that would freeze wages in 2001, and give an annual 2 percent increase from 2012 to 2014.

The deal still must be approved by the CSEA and the White Plains Common Council, and comes after the City laid off 12, with the CSEA taking most of the cuts, said The Journal News. Read the full story here

5.) CD Release Party for Urban Jazz Series Curator

Westchester Jazz Musician Bob Baldwin, guest curator of ArtsWestchester’s New Urban Jazz Series, will hold his record release party for his new CD “NewUrbanJazz.com 2/Re-Vibe,” at The Arts Exchange, Wed. July 27 at 7 p.m.
