A local law amending the ethics code will be introduced at the meeting; as well as an amendment to the noise pollution ordinance. Also, on the agenda is the scheduling of a public hearing on the dedication of parkland; and the resolution of the council acting as lead agency in regards to reviews for the French-American School of New York’s request for a special permit to run a K-12 school on the former Ridgeway Country Club site. According to The Journal News, neighbors of the former Ridgeway Country Club say the golf course is starting to look like a hot wild mess. The French-School of New York, who now owns the property and is looking to turn it into at K-12 school campus, says they are doing the best they can to maintain the property—The Journal News reports. 4.) Gov. Taps Business Council of Westchester Members to Serve on Economic Development Council
Gov. Andrew Cuomo chose several members of the Business Council of Westchester to serve on the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council, including President/CEO Dr. Marsha Gordon; Executive Board Member Wiley Harrison; and members Leonard Schleifer and Dr. Dennis J. Murray.
White Plains will participate in the 28th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents are asked to lock up their homes, turn their outside lights on and chill outside with their neighbors.
The White Plains Department of Public Safety will host and open house at its headquarters, at 77 South Lexington Ave. and host a live band, safety fair and other attractions.
The event brings awareness to crime and drug prevention; strengthens relationships between public safety and the community; as well as let criminals know that White Plains neighbors got each other’s backs.
