No, your city officials didn’t quite their day jobs—but they did participate in “ShopRite Partners in Caring Day,” in honor of National Hunger Action Month on Sept. 21. Local officials spent the day as honorary grocery baggers at ShopRite of White Plains accepting monetary donations for local food banks.

The White Plains Department of Recreation and Parks, along with the White Plains Cares Coalition and the POW’R Against Tobacco Coalition spent Saturday, Sept. 24 educating local residents about the 22 city parks and outdoor spaces that are now smoke-free.

3.) FASNY to Make Presentation to the City Council

The French-American School of New York will make a presentation on its application to build and run a K-12 campus at the former Ridgeway Country Club at a special meeting of the White Plains Common Council on Monday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.  Click on the PDF to view the rest of the agenda.

The Furniture Sharehouse will hold a furniture drive—Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Unitarian Church, 468 Rosedale Ave.—to benefit those affected by recent flooding. Click for more information.

Mercedes-Benz of White Plains donated $1,000 to Pets Alive Westchester no-kill animal shelter as apart of its charity video contest. Pets Alive will be entered into a national contest for the chance to win up to $25,000.
