Three new merchants are moving to Mamaroneck Avenue, The Galleria is getting a makeover, City pools are open, the library hold an underwater art exhibit, and more

1.) 3 Knew Merchants for Mamaroneck Avenue.
According to Silverman Realty Group Inc., is there are three new leases that have been signed in the city’s downtown.

Energy Kitchen plans to move into 40 Mamaroneck Ave. to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The franchise serves energy, wraps, burgers salads and smoothies under 500 calories.
Delicious Licks self-serve frozen yogurt bar will move into 60A Mamaroneck Ave. Milonga Arepas & Tapas Grill will be at 74 Mamaroneck Ave. and is the sister-establishment of Milonga on North Broadway that will focus on serving lunch, as well as the happy-hour crowd.

2.) The Galleria is Getting a Makeover
The City approved The Galleria’s plans to alter the shopping mall's facade during the expansion of Forever 21. Check out The Journal News’ story for details.

Explore the vivid colors and creatures of the sea in “Sea Me! Underwater Photography by Pierrette Wagner,” the White Plains Library’s newest art exhibit. Opening night is Wednesday, June 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The show runs through Sept. 21
The artwork is for sale, and 20 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Friends of the White Plains Public Library. The exhibit is made possible by The Friends of the White Plains Public Library and The City of White Plains.
The library’s museum gallery is open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and 1p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Saturday. Click for more information.
4.) Dinner With Dad
Last month, Ridgeway Elementary School hosted 200 dads and their children and taught them how to cook healthy meals.
White Plains Hospital also sponsored the event, part of the City and school district’s Fatherhood Initiative. Their chef, Lee Mingione, led the demonstrations on how to make hummus, guacamole and more. Click here for the recipes and pictures.
5.) Time to Swim
City pools at Gardella and Kittrell parks are open for the season!!!
Starting Friday the pools will be open from noon to 6:30 p.m.; Kittrell Pool will be open until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Gardella until 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The season ends on Aug. 28. To be admitted to the pool you must have a White Plains Recreation I.D. card. The swim season will end on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Call the recreation office at 914.422.1336 for more information.
