The White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations will hold a forum for candidates running in November’s election for seats on the Westchester County Board of Legislators.
The forum will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Education House, 5 Homeside Ln.

Leg. Bill Ryan (D) and Iris Pagan (R) are competing to represent District 5. Leg. Alfreda Williams is running unopposed to keep her seat in District 8.
After introductions the candidates will discuss their backgrounds and why they are running. The WPCNA will then ask its questions. If time allows, questions will be taken from the audience.
After being damaged by Tropical Storm Irene, the 3-year-old Loucks Field at is now re-opened. The repairs were covered by the district’s insurance, according to the White Plains CitizeNetReporter,
4.) Bronx River Pathway in North White Plains Closes Friday
The Bronx River Pathway will be closed at Fisher Lane in White Plains for bridge replacement work. There will be no access to the pathway from the bridge started at Friday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. The bridge and pathway should re-open on Monday, Sept. 19
5.) Berkeley Celebrates Its Anniversary
celebrated 80th anniversary, as wells the Westchester campus’ ten years in White Plains on Sept. 8. Students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as Assemblyman Robert Castelli, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and White Plains Mayor Tom Roach all attended the event held at the 99 Church St. campus.
The college also unveiled its Berkeley College Legacy Timeline Exhibit on the first floor of the White Plains campus, which includes nine wall-mounted panels, one for each decade since the 1930s that illustrates the history of Berkeley College and what was happening globally at the time.
According to a press release from Castelli, the school was founded in1931 during the depression on the third floor of a Spanish Villa in East Orange, NJ, and now enrolls nearly 9,000 students.
