Patch Chat: Property Taxes and You

The White Plains Common Council will vote on a budget for 2011-12 on Thursday.

While rising taxes remain a concern for Westchester County property owners—few, only three White Plains residents, turned up to speak before the White Plains Common Council at a public hearing on the proposed budget.

At the time of the hearing, the proposed 2011-12 tax rate increase was 6.7 percent. It has since been reduced to 4.94 percent. The council will vote to adopt the budget Thursday.
