White Plains Police Arrest 5 in Chain Theft

Five 18 to 21-year-olds are accused of robbing a 20-year-old city man for his chain outside Sports Page Pub

White Plains police arrested five for allegedly stealing a $500 chain outside the , at 200 Hamilton Ave., around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

 Tefon Hall, 20, is accused of snatching the chain off the victim’s neck, after asking for a cigarette, and running off with it—police reports said.

As the victim attempted to run after Hall, of 7 Maple Ave. in White Plains, police said he was stopped by three others: Jonnie D. Evans, 21, of 600 Tarryhill Way in Greenburgh; Steadman Rivero, 20, of 7 Maple Ave. White Plains; and Deandre Thigpen, 18, of 38 Old White Plains Road, Tarrytown.

After the 20-year-old victim and two witnesses broke free from the group, they attempted to chase Hall. One of the witnesses was allegedly threatened by 18-year-old Joshua Marshall of 102 Greenvale Circle in White Plains who allegedly said “You wanna’ get hit?”

When the victim caught up with Hall he began to struggle with Hall and Hall’s friends, police reports said. Evans is accused of allegedly punching the victim, who was taken to White Plains Hospital for bruising to the face.

 Four of the suspects, minus Marshall, who police said fit the victim’s description were picked up by officers near Sears on South Lexington Avenue. The chain was found in a garbage can 20 feet from where the suspects were picked up, police reports said. Marshall later came to police headquarters to check on his friends, and was taken in by police for questioning.

The five suspects were charged with robbery in the second degree, a felony.
