Police: City Man Arrested Twice in 5 Days, Intoxicated Each Time

The following arrest report was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

It's been a rough week for Lawrence Sampson-Thomas.

The 29-year-old White Plains man was arrested early Thursday morning after police say he antagonized a responding police officer near the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and East Post Road. Police were responding to a report of a man sleeping in the road at about 3 a.m., when they saw Sampson-Thomas staggering on a nearby sidewalk.

When the officer stopped to talk to him, police say an intoxicated Sampson-Thomas yelled at the officer, tried to hold the police cruiser's door shut, pinning the officer in the vehicle, and then tried to punch the officer.

The officer eventually made it out of the car, but according to arrest reports, Sampson-Thomas wasn't done. Police say he grabbed the officer's police radio and tried to swing it at the officer.

Eventually the officer was able to subdue Sampson-Thomas, holding his arms back to handcuff him. He was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation.

Police determined at headquarters that Sampson-Thomas was drunk and high on PCP. He was hospitalized.

But that wasn't Sampson-Thomas' last brush with the law this week. Early Monday morning police say a store manager called police after a man stole an empty .50 cent cup of iced coffee for the 7-Eleven at 167 Martine Ave.

Police took the manager down Court Street in the direction the suspect ran, where he identified Sampson Thomas as the man who took the cup.

Sampson-Thomas was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. According to police reports, Sampson-Thomas was intoxicated during this incident as well.

Police held Sampson-Thomas, of 25 Hillside Ave., for court the following day.
