Police: Mother Uses Infant to Shoplift

The following arrest report was provided by the White Plains Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

A 24-year-old Mamaroneck woman used her infant child to help conceal five bottles of designer cologne she was trying to steal from Sears, police say.

Store security noticed the woman placing the cologne under the infant in a stroller at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, police say. Security stopped the woman after she left the store through a second floor exit with the merchandise, valued at about $300.

Police arrested the woman and charged her with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. 

Police contacted Child Protective Services and the child was released to a family member.

The woman was charged at police headquarters and held for arraignment.
