Police Need 12 Officers to Subdue Man, Say Cops

A White Plains man was charged with a slate of misdemeanors and violations after he resisted arrest and caused a scene at police headquarters—ultimately requiring a dozen officers to bring him under control, police said.

Police responded to reports of a stolen iPhone valued at $400 last Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. Cops were able to catch up with the alleged thief—a 20-year-old man—shortly afterward, and placed him under arrest for petty larceny, authorities told Patch.

But the man shouted and swore at police and threw his hands in the air, resisiting arrest, cops said. The officers radioed for back-up and were eventually able to place the man in the back of the squad car, where he began smashing his head against the cage barrier, police said.

Once back at headquarters the man "began to act irrationally," police said, and 12 officers were needed to bring him under control for a search.

The White Plains man has been charged with petty larceny and resisting arrest, misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a violation.
