Promotions for the Department of Public Safety
The White Plains Department of Public Safety celebrated the promotion of four of its members Monday.
A ceremony for members of the White Plains Department of Public Safety, City officials, family and friends was held at Monday to celebrate four promotions in the department.
“I want to thank all the public safety employees for the tough job they do everyday in making us all safe,” said Mayor Tom Roach.” We have a wonderful command structure here, and we have wonderful police officers and firefighters. That comes from leadership, and that comes from what we are doing here today. The way someone becomes commissioner is by working their way up.”
Brian Hickey, 42, a Dutchess County resident was promoted to lieutenant of the White Plains Fire Bureau. The White Plains Police Bureau’s Joseph Castelli, 45, a Westchester resident, was promoted to captain; Dennis Doherty, 41, of Westchester, was named a lietenant; while Kevin Farrelly, 31, of Putnam County, was named sergeant.

“There’s not a day that goes by without someone calling the department and telling me about the outstanding work both bureaus do,” said Public Safety Commissioner David Chong. “We really have one of the finest departments in the region, if not the country, and the reason for that is because of the people who are here today, and that also includes the families.”
