Senior Law Day Set In Westchester County
There will be educational talks on topics of interest to seniors and their families, as well as consultations with experts.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — Elder law and financial and care issues for older adults will be some of the topics of the upcoming 23rd Annual Senior Law Day in Westchester County.
The program will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at Ridge Road Park, 287 Ridge Road in Hartsdale.
The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services will provide five educational talks on topics of interest to seniors and their families and one-on-one consultations with experienced elder law attorneys, certified financial planners and geriatric care managers.

County agencies and nonprofit organizations will also be available in a separate exhibitor tent during the event.
County Executive George Latimer said he encouraged all of the county’s older adults to take advantage of programs like Senior Law Day.

“Building on the strides we have made to rebuild our parks and make Westchester safer overall,” he said, “we look forward to gathering in this beautiful setting to help seniors plan for the future and remain vibrant members of our local community.”
The program, which is hosted by the county DSPS and the Senior Law Day Collaborative, is open to all county senior citizens and their families.
Registration by calling 914-813-6300 is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Sign up for the free, 15-minute, one-on-one consultations when you arrive.
Free parking and restrooms are available, with level areas for walking.
The talks will focus on:
- Elder Law: Timeless Principles and New Developments
- Setting the Course for Independent Aging
- Understanding the Westchester Courts
- What Retirees Need to Know About Social Security
- Using Pooled Income Trusts to Qualify for Community Medicaid
Melinda Bellus of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, Krishna Brodigan, Westchester Library System, and Sarah A. Steckler of Warshaw & Burstein, LLP, co-chair the Senior Law Day Collaborative.
There will be free refreshments for all participants.
