Stick-Up at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries

Five were arrested for allegedly robbing a local eatery at gunpoint.

Five have been arrested for an alleged stick-up at the newly opened Five Guys Burgers and Fries, at 240 Main St., early Thursday morning.

5 Guys employee Timothy Crawford, 26, along with Lannay Wiggins, 25, both of 25 Mitchell Pl.; Ricardo A. St. Louis, 25, of 399 Gramatan Ave., Mount Vernon; Anthony Busch, 24, of 27 Washington Pl. Greenburgh; and Marcus L. Beechum, 22 of 2 Beech St.  Greenburgh—have all been charged with felony counts of robbery in the first degree, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, and conspiracy in the fourth degree.

According to police, a robbery in progress was reported from the restaurant around 12:15 a.m. during closing. Restaurant employees told police that three males wearing rubberized gloves and bandannas covering their faces came in brandishing a framed revolver asking for the day’s cash from the manger.

 After reviewing the surveillance tapes, police were able to locate three individuals who fit the description of the suspects within minutes. During the investigation police learned there were two additional suspects involved, who were later taken into custody.

Police said they found a loaded .44-caliber handgun; most of the clothing, gloves and masks used in the robbery; and more than $3,700 in cash taken from 5 Guys in the suspects possession.  The suspects were held pending arraignment.
