Two Females Slashed With Box-Cutter on Mamaroneck Avenue

Christina Hernandez, 18, of Thornwood has been charged with assault in the first degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

A Thornwood woman is accused of allegedly slashing two 18-year-old females Monday night in front of a bus stop near the corner of Mamaroneck and Martine avenues.

White Plains Police were called to White Plains Hospital around 7 p.m. where the two girls, both from White Plains, were taken after one sustained a serious wound requiring surgery. The weapon allegedly used was a box-cutter. 

The second woman was released from the hospital after being treated for less severe, but substantial, injuries. Their identities are being withheld since the investigation is ongoing.

Police arrested 18-year-old Christina Hernandez of Thornwood in front of 325 Mamaroneck Ave. around midnight and charged her with assault in the first degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

According to police, the dispute between the three girls started when they were in high school.
