WHITE PLAINS, NY — No decision was made whether to remove Legislator Catherine Borgia as chairwoman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators Wednesday.

In a special meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nancy Barr said that Borgia had begun a legal action challenging the authority of the board to consider a resolution removing her as leader.

Barr said a judge ordered that the vote cannot be held until after the court makes a decision Friday at 2 p.m.

The Board of Legislators voted to adjourn until 4 p.m. Friday.

Borgia, a Democrat, represents District 9 which is comprised Briarcliff Manor, Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining and parts of Cortlandt and Peekskill.

The Democrats of the legislative body asked her to resign Monday from the leadership position over her handling of reports of a vigilante sting operation that produced a video in which legislative aide Anand Singh allegedly solicited sexual relations from a minor.

Borgia refused to resign and issued a statement on Tuesday that said she followed the law, upheld the county charter and followed the ethics laws and rules that govern the body.

“Targeting me is an example of pervasive misogyny and political hubris that will destroy this institution,” she said.
