White Plains Among County Libraries Offering October Fun
Many Westchester libraries offer fun seasonal programs for kids, teens and adults.

Westchester libraries offer plenty of October fun in the coming weeks. Check out a few of these programs, starting with some Halloween storytelling and a Day of the Dead workshop offered in White Plains.
White Plains
Goblins, witches and bats: White Plains Public Library offers a variety of holiday programs from a Halloween-themed Mother Goose Time storytelling at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Oct. 24 to a Day of the Dead workshop and a Halloween Fun event, both at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. Scarsdale
Salem Witch Trials: What happened to the Salem women accused of witchcraft at the Scarsdale Public Library? The Westchester Chapter of the Archeological Society will present their program, The Salem Witch Trials and Gallows Hill, at 2 p.m. Oct. 30. The library is located at 54 Olmstead Road. 914 722-1300.

Ghostbusters: Harrison Public Library presents the new Ghostbusters film, starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristin Wiig. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24. The library is located at 2 Bruce Avenue. 914 835-0324

Day Of The Dead: New Rochelle Public Library will present a Dia de Los Muertos, Day of the Dead display at 1 p.m. Oct. 30. The Mexican holiday akin to All Saints Day is usually observed on the first day of November. The library is located at 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle. 914 632-7878
Bronxville
Emoji Pillows, Drop-ins And Tricky Treats: Bronxville Public Library presents a few Halloween-themed programs. Teen do-it-yourself Halloween drop-in days take place on Oct. 24 and 25. “The Darkness” will be screened for teens on Oct. 27. On Oct. 31, a do-it-yourself event lets you make emoji pillows with a Halloween theme. After that there’s trick or treating in the children’s room. Rye
Halloween Parade: The Rye Free Reading Room will have a Halloween parade with musical performer Graham Clarke at 6 p.m. Oct. 27. The event is for children, ages 4 and up and their grownups. Larchmont-Mamaroneck
Horror Movie Bingo: Mamaroneck Library presents a Horror Movie Bingo Teen Fright Film Weekend from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30. Children, K through 5, who arrive at the Children’s Room in costume on Oct. 31, will get a prize. At 3:30 p.m., children in grades K through 3, can make a mini haunted house. Halloween Horror: Chappaqua Public Library presents the Halloween Horror event at 7 p.m. Oct. 26. Wear a costume to attend this traditional storytelling and mummy-wrapping event. Kids K-8. The library is located at 195 S. Greeley Avenue. 914 238-4779
Halloween Carnival, Wizards and Witches: Mount Kisco Public Library will have its Halloween Carnival at 4 p.m. on Oct. 28. There are also some bewitching events during the week with a do-it-yourself Wizard, Warlock and Witch event at 4 p.m. Oct. 27 and a do-it-yourself Harry Potter Spell Book and Straw Quill event at 4 p.m. Oct. 31. Croton-on-Hudson
Halloween Party And Spooky Reading. The Croton Free Library offers two Halloween events on Oct. 26. First, there’s a costume party with Halloween games, prizes and treats at 4 p.m. Then Christina Moore, an audiobook narrator who has recorded some 300 books, will read something spooky, creepy and revolting for students in grades 5 and up. The Field Library has Halloween fun planned for two days. There’s a Tiny Tots Halloween Party on Oct. 28 and a full day of Halloween festivities for older trick-or-treaters, which starts with the film “Ghostbusters” at 3 p.m. on Oct. 31. The library is located at 4 Nelson Avenue, 914 737-1212
Tarrytown
Sleepy Hollow Comedy: The Warner Library in Tarrytown will present “The Legend of North Tarrytown, a comic version of the popular tale at 2 p.m. Oct. 30. The next day there is trick or treating at 1 p.m. The library is located at 121 North Broadway. 914 631-7734

Ghosts of Dobbs Ferry: The Dobbs Ferry Public Library will observe the season with tales of ghosts and spirits that haunt the village at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. The library is located at 55 Main Street, Dobbs ferry. 914 693-6614.

Pumpkin decorating and more: The John C. Hart Library in Shrub Oak offers pumpkin decorating workshops at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Oct. 22 and a spooky movie, “Goosebumps” at 5 p.m. on Oct. 26. On Oct. 27, Jennie Sunshine presents “Bats, Spiders And Black Cats at 4:30 p.m. The library is located at1130 East Main Street. 914 2455262
Ghost Hunters: Join paranormal investigator Barry Pirro of ConnecticutGhostHunter.com for chilling stories and ghost hunting tips at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Somers Library.
