White Plains Firefighter Saves Woman From Car Fire In CT

BROOKFIELD, CT — An off-duty White Plains firefighter who lives in Connecticut is being credited with saving a woman whose car burst into flames Saturday.
Brookfield, Connecticut, Fire and EMS officials said they were dispatched shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday to Route 7 North in the area of the Junction Road overpass for a single-car accident with fire and entrapment.
When first responders arrived, they found a vehicle that was heavily involved in flames and a bystander removing the injured driver, officials said.

Nicholas Perri Jr., who lives in Brookfield, Connecticut, and is a member of the White Plains Professional Fire Fighters, came across the accident as he was heading home, according to authorities.
"Without the protection of gear or a hose line, he gained access to the well involved vehicle and successfully removed the badly injured female driver as flames were entering the passenger compartment," fire officials said. "He carried the patient to EMS where she was treated and transported to Danbury Hospital. Mr. Perri was treated on scene for minor injuries and refused transport. His actions are a testament to him, the White Plains FD, and the fire service as a whole."
