White Plains Man Wins $250,000 in the New York Lottery at Local Mart

Lewis Wolstein walked into his the Chestnut Mart, at 174 Westchester Avenue in White Plains, and walked out with a winning Mega Millions ticket.

The White Plains man won $250,000 in the Dec. 27 New York Lottery drawing.

According to a press release from the New York Lottery—the New York Lottery is North America's largest and most profitable lottery, contributed more than $3 billion in fiscal year 2010-2011 to help support education in New York State and represents more than 15 percent of total state education funding to local school districts. Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education, and takes into account both a school district's size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding—the press release says.

James Dilworth, 62, of White Plains was announced as a New York Lottery winner in July when at JKSG Station, 124 So. Lexington Ave.

“Well, I always hope to win something, but I was losing,” said the 62-year-old White Plains resident.
