White Plains Officials to Vote on Budget Tonight
White Plains residents will see their tax rates increase by 4.2 percent in next year's budget proposal.
White Plains officials are scheduled to vote on the their $157.5 million budget proposal for the next fiscal year during tonight’s Common Council meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to take place tonight at 7 p.m. inside city hall.
Here’s a rundown of the proposal:
- The spending plan is $4.9 million more than this year’s adopted budget of $152.5 million.
- •A reduction of 28, or 3.3 percent of the authorized positions from the 844 authorized in the city, as well as a continuation of current hiring restrictions.
- Estimated revenues other than property taxes and related items total $87.1 million, which is $232,698 more than the $86.9 million in this year’s budget.
- Debt proceeds will not used as a financing source;
- $5.1 million will be allocated from the tax stabilization account, which is $100,000 more
- than what was appropriated in this year’s budget.
- $5.2 million will be appropriated from various other sources, which is $2.4 million more
- than the $2.8 million appropriated in this year’s budget;
- Taxable assessed valuation of $277.7 million, an increase of $2.1 million more than
- the $275.6 million found in the 2012-2013 Adopted Budget.
- A property tax rate of $192.22 per $1,000 taxable assessed valuation, which is $7.75 more than the 2012-2013 tax rate of $184.47.
